Local Connection and Support

Blue Star Family Chapters
Our Blue Star Family chapters get together for friendship and support, but they also connect to help fellow military families and/or the larger community AND to get cool stuff for their units or bases with the help of our national BSF programs and partnerships with groups like KIDS in Distress.
We are constantly working with our partnerships to bring a variety of easy and fun opportunities to our BSF Chapters. If you have any great ideas, especially if they meet the needs of military families near you, please let us know.
Cadence International Hospitality House - Located near military installations
At “a home away from home” servicemen and women find an open door, a comfortable couch, a home-cooked meal, and people who listen, encourage, love, and point them to the hope of Christ. Hospitality Houses offer different ministries depending on location. These may include Bible studies, singles groups, family-focused ministries, evangelistic outreach efforts, one-to-one discipleship, and coffee house ministries. Hospitality House missionaries strive to share the ups and downs of life with military personnel, encouraging them into deeper relationships with others and with Christ.
Churches - Military Friendly, Military Focused
I collected from military wives the names of churches that have supported their military families. Below are the churches to which they gave their stamps of approval, spanning from Florida to Alaska. Below you will find the list of those churches, along with their locations and Web sites where available. Leave comments to share other churches not already on the list- let’s grow it!

Mothers of Preschoolers - (Military MOPS) Has childcare while Moms meet in a structured environment
MOPS International is dedicated to meeting the needs of every mother of preschoolers. In order to attain this vision for moms who are either in the military themselves, or have a spouse in the military, MOPS International has developed the Military MOPS program. A Military MOPS group is much like a Classic MOPS group, except that it is chartered, or sponsored, by a base chapel, either domestic or international. Because of the unique situations that Military MOPS groups face by being on a military base, MOPS International has designed this program with a great deal of flexibility.
Military MOPS groups usually meet once or twice a month, and often provide childcare through the MOPPETS program. Much like our Classic MOPS groups, Military MOPS meetings vary in length, topics and meeting time, but typically include time for developing relationships through teaching, discussion groups, creative activities and fellowship time over a shared meal or snack.
Mothers of Preschoolers - (non-military) Has childcare while Moms meet in a structured environment
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books, their web site and the MOPS International Membership.
PWOC - Protestant military wives Bible study at military installations
The Protestant Women of the Chapel International is a resource network that unites, trains and encourages women in the military chapel community in their spiritual growth.
PWOC is God empowered, Christ centered and Spirit led; exists as an extension of the chapel; encourages women to grow spiritually within the body of Christ through prayer, the study of God's Word, worship and service; is sponsored by the Army Chief of Chaplains and is recognized by the leadership of the Air Force, Navy, Marine and Coast Guard Chaplaincy.
The website also includes the Girlfriend's Guide to Deployments: Marriage Superglue, Maintaining Intimacy in a Long-Distance Marriage, 100 Things You can Do While Your Spouse is Deployed, Ideas for Keeping the Love Connection Alive Across the Miles (for women), Deployment Encouragment.
Wives of Faith - Has local chapters in various locations
Connecting with other military wives who share your faith in Christ can offer hope and assurance that you can get through anything, even deployment. Local Wives of Faith groups meet this very important need.
If you are interested in connecting with a local group, please look through the groups listed under this tab of the website.
If you don’t yet see a group in your area, consider praying and asking God for wisdom. He may be calling you to start a group and minister to military wives right where you are!

Life is a Battle
It's no secret: Life is tough. But the good news is we don't have to go through it alone. God wants us to share our burdens with Him. There is a lot of focus on self-reliance in our society, but our human strength simply isn't sufficient to sustain us during a trial. Only God's awesome power can do that. As a Christian community Web site, Life is a Battle was created to encourage and link those who are struggling with one another and show God's provisions through personal testimonies and prayer. You can post your own prayers or testimonies, comment on posts made by others or simply use this site as a resource to help you overcome life's most challenging obstacles.
When Marnie's husband, U.S. Army Captain Michael Waldrop, was deployed to Afghanistan, she was thrust into the role of a military wife, and left to take care of their two young children, Tommy and Marilyn, alone. During this challenging time, she and her family learned the importance of leaning on each other—and God—for support. Michael has since returned home, but Marnie has not forgotten the love and support others gave her and her family during their time of need. They hope this site will act as a resource for others who are facing trials, and let them know that they are not alone. Currently living in Orlando, Fla., the Waldrop family continues to seek ways to give back to veterans and others in need through volunteer work and community involvement.

MPower
What is MPower?
Do people turn to institutions when they need support, or do they turn to each other?
There are hundreds of military family programs offered, but not all families take advantage of them. Picture all of these programs as pieces of a giant puzzle scattered on your kitchen table.
MPower will create the environment that inspires families to put the puzzle together in a way that makes sense for them
Why MPower?.Our lives are complex, we all juggle many roles. We are “Moms" we are “Managers of our homes and careers," we are “Military Spouses.”
Throw in the added stress of deployment, and it gets harder and harder to keep all the balls in the air.
What's your role? How do you define you? MPower wants to know, "What's your M?"
M Power is creating an environment where military spouses can build trusting relationships that will help them create their own support network and build strength in their families.
How are we going to do it?
- Life skills mentoring for our young families will help them build a strong foundation and prepare them for the realities of life in today’s military.
- Coaching to help you achieve your goals, and help you build a plan to create the best life possible for you and your family.
- Giving back is important too. Experts will tell you, to become resilient, you not only need a mentor in your life, you also need to be a mentor. M Power will provide meaningful service opportunities for our members that encourage supporting other families and engaging with the community.
I ask each of you to join me in this effort. Take all of those good ideas where you have said, “You know what THEY should do…” but now turn the “THEY” into “WE.” Be a part of building MPower. Join today. Let’s support each other. Let’s build strength in our families…Together.

Wives of Faith
Are you the wife of a Reservist or a National Guard member who is deployed, but you don't know one other military wife you can talk with? Are you married to an active-duty service member but live nowhere near your husband's installation? Are you looking for other military wives who will offer positive support and encouragement who also share your Christian faith? Whether you're Active Military, Reserve, or National Guard, we know the ups and downs that come with military life and we want to help!
We exist for the purpose of connecting all military wives including active, retired, Reserve and Guard, who are looking for encouragement and friendships with others sharing similar life experiences.
With more and more service members deploying and families living away from their military installation, spouses are seeking friendships with other women who may better understand their circumstances than civilian friends and family are sometimes able to.
Wives of Faith offers quarterly programs and monthly get-togethers which provide a way for military spouses to meet each other, connect for a friendly cup of coffee or conversation over lunch, a play date at the park with the kids, or a heart to heart when times get tough.
It's our hope that through this group, women will be encouraged in their walk with God through the ups and downs of military life and discover the hope and contentment that we can all have through Christ.
Wives of Faith Online - If you don't live near a local chapter or you have to miss a meeting, now you can be part of what we're talking about. Download the listeners guide and watch the video.
