Christmas - Adopt a family
Adopt a Hero for Christmas is a charity comprised of people who honor and support America's wounded Soldiers and their families who have sacrificed so much to protect our
nation and ensure our freedom.
Our mission is to bring the joy of Christmas to our heroes and their families. We collect Christmas gifts and needed items for our wounded Soldiers and their families at the
Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. We deliver these gifts to our heroes during Christmas and we visit with them. Please help by donating an unwrapped gift for a wounded Soldier, their spouse or their children.

Connection and support - Not Alone (Find other warriors and families experiencing life after war)
Not Alone started in 2008 when a group of warriors and professionals discovered a significant gap in the government's capacity to help warriors and their families come home from war. There needed to be a confidential online community where those warriors could congregate to help each other. Our personal experiences with war trauma led us to reach out to those that need help. Not Alone has formed partnerships with various organizations to create new ways across the nation to help those returning from war.
Not Alone draws on a unique group of individuals with personal experience in the Iraq and Afghanistan war. We have been in your shoes. We have struggled to regain our lives and to find the new normal at home. Professionals, warriors and experts have been vital in helping to bring the Not Alone vision into reality. We've been through the experience of war and returning home from war and hope that our persistence, experience and passion can help others in their journey as well. We understand. We get it.
Connection and support - Opportunities for Veterans and Wounded Warriors
Opportunities for Veterans and Wounded Warriors provides resources to aid veterans, Wounded Warriors, and families to aid transition and recovery. Its vision is also to be able to have veterans, Wounded Warriors, and families a place to get to know one another and develop lines of communication between one another for life long friendship and support lines.
Connection and support - Purple Heart Family Support from MarineParents.com
Through our unique programs, Purple Heart Family Support™ creates avenues of solace for Wounded Warriors and for their families by providing fellowship, encouraging networking and communication, and nourishing a healthy understanding of a Purple Heart Marine’s and family’s road to recovery.
The Purple Heart Family Support™ program, East and West Coast Wounded Warrior Meals, has proudly served over 6,000 meals to injured servicemen and to the families waiting at their bedsides since its start in 2007. Our dedicated volunteers serve meals once each month at each location, and even coordinate activities and field trips for our Wounded Warriors on the weekends meals aren’t being served. Although Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland and the Wounded Warrior Barracks a.k.a. Balboa in San Diego, California are our current program locations, we hope to expand our services to other military hospitals around our nation as funding through donations increases.
The Purple Heart Family Support™ Learning Center offers information pertaining to ill or injured servicemen so that no family feels overwhelmed during their time of need. Definitions of terms, procedures for notification, links to military hospitals, and even information regarding Invitational Travel Orders can be found here. The Learning Center can be the catalyst for Marine families to implement successful action plans in the event that their Marine is wounded in combat. They will have a better idea of what questions to ask and who to contact to receive as much information as possible.

- help the children of service members cope with the transitions and/or trauma they are facing in response to the deployment or injuries sustained by their Soldiers.
- provide children age-appropriate therapeutic interventions in small groups of their peers, who have had similar experiences.
- provide fun, therapeutic interventions for the children as well as information for parents about how to help their children at home.
- allow the child to tell their story and help put a voice to their feelings and concerns, while providing new ways to handle their experiences.
Family support - Defenders of Freedom
Defenders of Freedom is a non profit organization with the purpose of raising money to support our troops who are currently deployed around the world. Because our troops are actively working to keep America safe, Defenders of Freedom believe passionately in showing them as much support as possible.
100% of the profits are used to:
- Send "support boxes" to our men and women in uniform
- Support wounded soldiers with encouragement and needed items, especially those with no support
- Support the families of our wounded soldiers both physically and emotionally
Family support - Heartbeat for Warriors (Morale-building programs)
Our morale-building programs are critical to the well-being of our wounded warriors and their families. When morale is up, health improves. These programs show service members how much we appreciate their huge sacrifices. Building morale brings them a little bit of joy amid extreme challenges.

Family support - Project Lifting Spirits
Soldier's Santas - Often, when a troop is wounded, the one thing they really miss being able to do is provide a gift for their own child. We will be trying to see to it that every wounded service member in our area has a gift on hand to give his/her child when they come to visit "Daddy" or "Mommy" at the hospital. We will offer this year round, so the service member has a gift for that all-important first visit with their child after returning home, for the child's birthday's and of course at Christmas.
Family support - The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes
Disabled American Veterans of the War on Terror must struggle every day to overcome life-changing sacrifices such as the loss of a limb, significant burns, and the reality of being in a wheel chair.
The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes was created to provide a way for individuals, corporations and others to support our troops by helping severely wounded and disabled Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans and their families rebuild their lives.
The mission of The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes is to help the people who have given so much on our behalf overcome these obstacles and resume a productive and fulfilling life through programs targeted to their specific needs.
One of their programs: Family Support Network – Including concerts, sporting events, special outings to help reunite families; and therapeutic day camp for children of wounded soldiers.
Housecleaning - Cleaning for Heroes
Cleaning for Heroes is the ONLY non-profit dedicated to providing free house cleaning services to disabled or elderly veterans but we don't stop there! We also provide free house cleaning services to disabled members of local police and fire departments. We are grateful for the service that these men and women provide to all of us to help make this country what it is today and Cleaning for Heroes was founded to provide help in a time of need for these individuals. Members of the United States Military, local police department or fire department who have injuries sustained in the line of duty that make the task of house cleaning difficult are eligible for our services. Elderly veterans who live alone or with an aging spouse are also eligible.
Laptops for the Wounded
Laptops for the Wounded provides laptops with webcams to wounded troops in military hospitals. The laptops are then used by the troops to remain in contact with wives, husbands, families and loved ones, while recuperating from their combat wounds. The laptops will then remain at the hospitals to be used by other incoming wounded troops to contact, and remain in contact, with loved ones.

Website - Military Tributes (You can create a free website to honor a veteran or military loved one)
Military-Tributes.com is a site dedicated to the love and support of our military members. We believe in God, country, family, and our brave men and women in the military. Military-Tributes.com is not ashamed to stand for what is right and wrong. But we are NOT necessarily a political site. Our main goal is to give families who have loved ones in the military a place to show off, support, love, and share the pride they have for their military member. This site is totally free to use and join. We do not put ads on your own military tribute website here out of respect. You will have complete control of all photos and comments. This is just our small step in supporting our beloved members of the United States Military. We would appreciate any promotion you can give of this website. This site is brand new, started in June 2009. When we have a few members, we will even spotlight them on our main page.
